Find out how our Master 1 students experienced their first months within the CEMS community. For our second edition, we’re glad to have Laurent sharing his story with us.
When did you take the decision to apply for the CEMS program?
I decided to apply for CEMS during the last year of my Bachelor’s degree. I was on a student exchange in Singapore for 4 months, and this experience made me realise that I wanted to pursue a Master’s degree which is really internationally oriented. So I applied around January 2018, hoping to start the degree in September 2018.
Why for CEMS in particular?
Although I had never heard of CEMS before, I was immediately convinced that it would be the perfect Master program for me. The strong network of students, corporate partners and social partners sounded really appealing to me. Not only do you get the opportunity to study with a lot of different cultures, but you are also able to develop real practical skills through an internship and a business project that are part of the curriculum.
Did you join the CEMS club? If yes, why?
I am a member of the Corporate Team. Together with 4 other students, we organise company events that other CEMSies can attend. By being involved in the CEMS club and specifically in the Corporate Team, I am able to develop my organisational and networking skills, while adding value to the CEMS network and other CEMSies.
Are you happy with your choice so far?
Definitely. It has been a busy semester so far, but I have learned a lot. Most of these learnings have actually taken place outside the classroom; during group meetings, company events or other activities organised by the CEMS club. I really felt part of the CEMS community from day 1.
Would you advise Bachelor students to apply for the CEMS program?
YEEES! If you are looking for a new challenge in which you are able to develop yourself while being part of an awesome community, then CEMS is one of the best choices you could make.
